On 30 May 2019 Interstate Bus Lines was invited to participate in the “Take a girl child to work” initiative. 50 young girls from Mangaung were invited to participate in this year’s instalment. In this year’s event, Interstate Bus Lines was invited to ensure that all transport logistics were taken care off. Young girls were transported to various other organisations as part of the programme.

The National Employment Fund (NEF) in partnership with few Companies including Interstate Bus Lines, hosted the Take a Girl Child to Work initiative on 30 May 2019. 50 girls were identified from surrounding township schools in Bloemfontein.

The girls were given a tour around Busamed Private Hospital at Bram Fischer International Airport, attended a Career Guidance Session at the University of Free State and in closing were hosted at The Bon Hotel by a few speakers amongst which were Miss Plus Size World Ambassador. The logic behind this initiative is to create a platform to highlight careers and other opportunities that were previously not accessible to women.

During this event, the Corporate world is encouraged to open its doors to young girls to gain exposure in how these entities are managed and run. Interstate Bus Lines formed part of this wonderful initiative by transporting the Girls to their different destinations.
