In 2018 Interstate Bus Lines (IBL) initiated a project to help 20 students from child headed families and families with unemployed parents, with free transport. These families only survive with grants.
Students came from Botshabelo, Thaba Nchu and Bloemfontein and were attending different tertiary institutions in Bloemfontein. Free transport was provided for two years, until the beginning of Covid-19 in March 2020. After tertiary institutions were closed due to Covid-19 in 2020, IBL employed these students as casuals until December 2020.
On 05 October 2021, one of these students, Nthabeleng Dinah Motholi came to our head office to thank IBL for what we have done for her. Nthabeleng who was studying BCom Accounting at the University of the Free State also told us that she has since graduated and she is currently working as an intern at Free State Department of Education.
IBL wishes Nthabeleng best of luck in her new journey.
