The Interstate Bus Lines Driver of the Year (DOTY) competition zoomed into action on Saturday, 28 October 2023 🚍🏆
This wasn’t just any competition; it was part of IBL’s thrilling initiative for Transport Month, celebrating our incredible bus drivers who keep our wheels turning with precision and style! 🚌🎉
🏅 The DOTY competition provided a platform for our bus drivers to shine and showcase their skills, competing against the best of the best. It’s not just a race; it’s an opportunity for growth and improvement, creating better, safer drivers for the road ahead. 🚦✨
Entry to DOTY is voluntary, but once our drivers hop on board, they’re put through their paces, including criteria like years of service, accident record, disciplinary history and driver behavior. 📜🚦
Our amazing bus drivers faced off in two categories:
🚺 Female drivers: Rigid bus with 7 fierce participants
🚹 Male drivers: Rigid bus with 10 incredible contenders
The competition was a four-part thriller:
🚗 Track Test: Drivers displayed their skill in maneuvering vehicles in tight spots (International Standard track).
🛣️ Road Test: The emphasis was on safety, defensive methods and flawless vehicle handling.
📚 Theory Test: A knowledge check on road situations, road rules and signs.
🛠️ Pre-Trip Inspection: A quick and precise check of vehicle roadworthiness.
