Kodisang Football Club

Interstate Bus Lines is sponsoring 12 players of Kodisang Ladies FC with transport from Thaba Nchu to Mariasdal. This is a 12 months sponsorship that started at the beginning of 2019. The 12 players sponsored were recruited by the team from different towns in the Free State.

Dr. Kodisang, the owner of the team, offered these players accommodation, food and put them into school. He also requested Interstate Bus Lines to help these players with transport to school.

The team was formed in 2002, playing in Thaba Nchu Super League 2002/2003 and in that year it had 25 wins, 5 draws and no losses. In 2003/2004 they played in Thaba Nchu SAFA Promotional League and came in 2nd position, beaten by just 1 point by the winners of the league that year.

Kodisang Ladies FC was formed in 2016 with girls from rural areas of Thaba Nchu (Trusts) and in their first attempt in ladies’ soccer league in 2017 they finished in position 10.

The following are some of their achievements:
One of their players was called for trials for SAFA U-20 National Team and she was one of only six players
from the Free State.
In 2018 they had a player in Thaba Nchu U-19 squad
Seven of their players were selected for the Transnet U-19 squad
Five of their players were also selected for Free State U-19 with 1 of their players awarded with Captaincy.
Another four players were selected for Transnet and went to play in Gauteng.
Another player was selected to play for F.S U-17 schools.
Team came in position 4 on the SAFA Sasol League.

The team further supports 12 players through their schooling at Mariasdal High School and the team also accommodates these players at its club house with only one staying at her home. These players are from the following areas:
2 Players from Thaba Nchu
1 Player from Wepener
2 Players from Ladybrand
1 Player from Qwaqwa
5 Players from Hobhouse
1 Player from Tweespruit

Through the years, Interstate Bus Lines has consistently support rural sport development in various forms including the IBL /SAFA Promotional league.

The IBL league has gone to produce some of the big names in our football and given the work done by the club, it was natural for IBL to get involved.
