  • Interstate Bus Lines transports more than 14 million people per year, which is about one third of the South African population.
  • A total of 14 million kilometers are being travelled to transport the public. That is nearly 350 times around the earth!
  • For this, the company uses 6 million liters of diesel. That would be enough to fill the fuel tanks of 109 000 medium sized vehicles.
  • The fleet comprises of 242 buses of which 16 are subcontracted. 68 of these buses are train buses able to carry 100 seated passengers while our rigid buses can carry 65 seated passengers. The length of a train bus is 21m while a rigid is 14m. All of our buses end-to-end would stretch along a distance of 3.3 km.
  • The average for trips on time is 98%. This is 2% better than the acceptable standard set by South African Airways for their passenger buses at OR Tambo International Airport.
  • The company is operational from 04H00 until 00H00 every day, seven days a week. This amounts to more than 7000 hours every year.
